Early Check-Out – We know not all appointments can be scheduled for after school hours and sometimes students need to be checked out early. If you must check your student out early, please remember the following:
– Park in a parking stall.
– Be in the office by 2:45 p.m. (Mon. – Thurs.) or 12:45 p.m. (Fri.)
** If you arrive after 2:45 p.m. (Mon.-Thurs.) or 12:45 p.m. (Fri.), you’ll need to wait in the office until 3:15 p.m. (Mon.-Thurs.) or 1:15 p.m. (Fri.) when all students are dismissed. This is a busy transition time when teachers are giving final instructions and all students are preparing for dismissal. **
– Make sure to sign out your child on the Student Sign Out sheet.
Extended Absences – If your child is going to be missing 3 or more days of school we need you to fill out an extended absence form. This form needs to be returned to the front desk before departure.
Sick Days – If your child is sick, please contact the front desk at 801-840-1210. Please contact the front desk before 8:30 a.m. so that we can inform the teacher of their absence and give them time to prepare their homework. It is important for the student to receive their homework so that they do not fall behind. If there is a sibling at the school we will send the homework home with them, or the parent can pick it up after school.
If your child misses more than 3 days of school due to an illness, the front desk will need a note from their doctor advising us they have been seen and when we can expect them back to school. When this amount of school is missed, it is very important that the student is able to stay on top of their homework.
Tardies – A student is tardy when he/she is not sitting at the desk ready to work when the bell rings. A student is tardy when he/she comes to class up to 14 minutes after the bell rings. A Junior High student who comes to class after the 15-minute tardy period is marked absent for the period. When any student arrives late in the morning, a parent must come in the school and sign in the student. After 3 tardies, a Junior High student will participate in NPA’s after-school restitution program.
Unexcused Absences – If a student’s unexcused absence exceeds 10 days and the student continues to be absent without parent notification, the student will be withdrawn from NPA.
